Run your area with confidence. Set goals, manage performance and resources, and make decisions you can explain and defend.
sermet was founded on the Halifax waterfront in 2017 by a team of executive coaches and former managers from healthcare, ocean industries and provincial government. Across Atlantic Canada they kept meeting skilled, dedicated professionals who had drifted into roles without a plan, unsure how to grow or where to head next.
Our approach is simple: help you set a clear course, build the skills to follow it and stay with you along the way. Every program combines practical professional development with one-to-one coaching from someone who understands your world.
A practical, personal approach built for people who already work hard and want their effort to add up to more.
We start by clarifying where you're headed and why. With a clear destination, every skill you build and every hour you invest has a purpose.
Our coaches combine recognized coaching credentials with years of management experience in Atlantic Canadian organizations, public and private.
Every session ends with actions you'll apply at work that week. Templates, frameworks and real scenarios replace lectures and slides.
Early-morning, lunchtime and after-work sessions in Atlantic Time, with recordings of every workshop. Coaching fits your calendar, not ours.
We assess your competencies at the start and track them throughout. You'll finish with a written record of your growth and next steps.
What you share with your coach stays private, even when your employer pays. Talk openly about your goals, challenges and plans.

Working professionals from across Atlantic Canada share what changed for them.
“I'd been a senior engineer in ocean technology for a decade and wanted to move into management, but kept getting overlooked. My coach helped me build a development plan and practise leading cross-functional meetings. Nine months later I was promoted to Engineering Manager with a team of seven.”Promoted within 9 months
“As a nurse manager I was buried in emails and meetings and had no time to actually lead. The management development program helped me restructure my week and delegate scheduling. My team's overtime dropped by a third, and staff engagement scores went up for the first time in years.”Team overtime down by a third
“Presenting to our deputy minister used to make me freeze. In the communication program we rehearsed with video and honest feedback. My last briefing note was approved without revisions, and I've since been asked to lead our department's quarterly updates.”Briefing approved first time

Absolutely. Many clients start exactly there. Our career planning program helps you clarify your strengths, values and options before committing to a direction, so you can move forward with confidence rather than guesswork.
Most clients spend three to five hours a week: a 90-minute live workshop, coaching sessions of about 50 minutes and short assignments you complete as part of your regular job. Every workshop is recorded.
